Fourth of July Wooden Firecrackers

I love having something on our front porch for different times of the year. For Halloween I have these cute little black cats. For Thanksgiving I made a pumpkin topiary. I needed something for the summer so I made some wooden firecrackers!

Mr. RCGG had to help me cut the wood to the sizes I wanted. Then I spray painted them white. I put painters tape around two pieces of wood and sprayed them red and blue. When I took the tape off the white was still visible making a design.

After I was sure that everything was dry, I glued the pieces together. I also glued a piece of string to the top of each one for a fuse. I wanted them to actually look like a fuse and stand up though! I took some black washi tape and wrapped it around the string.

I had a piece of wood left over so I glued the fireworks to it as a base! They weren’t staying like I wanted so Mr. RCGG drilled them to the base! I glued the fuses to the top!

It needed something along the bottom so we went to Hobby Lobby and got the letters. While spraying them I realized I was running out of white spray paint and only had enough to cover the U. So I sprayed the other two letters red and blue! I love how this turned out! I think it is one of my favorite crafts I have made in a while!
