Making a Memory Jar

We make memories every day. These memories can be something as simple as going for a walk or something more major like going on a family vacation. It doesn’t matter what the memory is as long as you are with people you love.
A couple of years ago I made a memory jar. I wrote down things that had happened and put it in the jar. At the end of the year we had so many memories of the past year. It was fun to read them and remember the things that happened.

If you want to make your own memory jar then here’s what you need:

a jar
scissors

a pencil
modge podge
paint
washi tape
scrapbook paper
stickers

Paint the top part of the jar. Let it dry.

Cut the scrapbook paper to fit the bottom part of your jar.

Using the foam brush apply the modge podge to the jar in a thin layer. I usually do two to three coats.

Wrap the scrapbook paper around the jar and using the modge podge seal the end to the jar.

The modge podge will dry clear so if there’s any that comes out from under the paper don’t worry about it.

Next trace the jar lid onto a piece of scrapbook paper and cut it out.

Apply modge podge to the lid and then add the scrapbook paper to it.

I added some washi tape to the sides of my memory jar.

Use the stickers to write what your jar is for.

Making a memory jar is so easy and can be used for many years to come! You can keep your memories from the year or just from special occasions. It is really up to you!

What’s your favorite memory from 2016?
