It is time for another edition of Crafty Tuesday! I hope you have enjoyed the projects I have put up already. I will be starting to put up projects that you can do with your kids as summer vacation gets closer. Here is today’s project:
What you need: 1 Crafters canvas tote bag (available at craft supply stores); 1 sheet Delta Stencil Mania “Party Time” stencils; Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paints in Barn Red, Blueberry and white; 1 #4 flat paint brush; 1- sheet Wilton “Patriotic.” cupcake and cookie stencils.
What to do:
1. Remove flag stripes stencil from stencil sheet and align in center front of tote about 1 1/2 to 2″ below top seam (see photo).
2. Hold stencil securely in place and with #4 flat paint brush and red paint, paint every other stencil stripe. Paint remaining 3 stripes white. Wait for each color to dry completely before applying the next color. This is a good time to clean your brush and stencil with warm water.
3. Position star stencil securely to left of flag stripes and paint blue (see photo). Reposition star to right side of stripes and paint blue as shown.
4. Place the USA stencil in center front of tote below star as shown in photo. Paint the U and A blue and the S red.
5. Position the starburst cookie stencil about 1″ from bottom of tote bag front as shown in photo. With red, paint stripes and with blue paint stars.
Note: Be sure to keep all stencils securely in place when painting to prevent paint from bleeding under the stencil.
6. Repeat entire process for back of tote bag. If desired, you may also create more stencil designs on sides of tote and paint red and white stripes on handles. Patriotic ribbon trim may also be added. Get creative and enjoy!
*This pattern is for a patriotic tote bag. You may use whatever stencil and paint colors want.
