Earlier this week, I finished reading Capital Gaines by Chip Gaines of HGTV’s Fixer Upper fame. I love Fixer Upper and Chip and Joanna are amazing! I had a brief period where I didn’t really like their farmhouse style. I think it was the overuse of ship lap! It seemed like everyone was doing farmhouse decor and ship lap!! I have come back to the farmhouse style but I have tweaked it to my own tastes. I have added some coastal charm to our farmhouse decor. I won’t be using any ship lap just in case you were wondering! Haha! I’ll share a home tour with you very soon! You can subscribe to my monthly newsletter to see sneak peeks of our home decor!
Anyway, back to my review of Capital Gaines. Chip always strives to do the best he possibly can. He explains that even though he may go about it in a way that would make others cringe, he embraces it and jumps head first into it!
He talks about how he started so many different business before FINALLY starting Magnolia with Joanna! They went through so many financial struggles while building their business! Chip says that he isn’t that great at budgeting and he is so thankful and blessed that Jo Jo is! They have been through some pretty rough times where they literally did not have any money! You never would guess this since they have gained so much fame with their Fixer Upper show!
Chip and Joanna are probably the most humble celebrities though! They have never let the fame get to their heads! They always give the credit of their success to God! They may be famous but they still live their before fame lives of flipping houses! They have just added to their work with the stores and everything in downtown Waco Texas.
Capital Gaines was a good book! It showed how Chip overcame his failures to create his successes by jumping into it!
Have you read Capital Gaines? What did you think? Have you read Magnolia Story by Joanna and Chip Gaines? I’ll do a review of that one at a later point! It was a great book!
