Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield is another civil war trip. I told you a lot of these would be civil war related! =) This one is a day trip for us since it is about thirty minutes away depending on the lovely Metro Atlanta traffic.
The Battle of Kennesaw was on June 27, 1864 and was part of the Atlanta campaign. It was launched by General Sherman against the Confederate troops of Tennessee commanded by General Johnston. The battle didn’t deliver the result of stopping Sherman’s advance on Atlanta like the Confederates wanted.
Thank you for sharing! This post reminded me visiting the Battlefield in Gettysburg, PA
I wrote about Gettysburg earlier in the month. You can go to http://randomcraftygagirl.com/31-family-friendly-vacations/ to see my other posts in my 31 family friendly vacations series! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon! =)
I’ve never been to Atlanta before. Looks like a nice place. Hopefully one day
I’ll be writing about Atlanta later this month. You should stop by and check it out!
I love historical sites! They are so pretty and I love learning more about a country’s history. xo
I always love reading (and seeing) historical sites. Definitely adding Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield to my travel bucket list! x Natalie http://www.thegirlwithbangs.com
I am hopefully visiting Atalanta next year! I will have to put this place on my bucket list. I seriously love history.
Isn’t history great?! There’s so much history in the Atlanta area! I’ll be doing an Atlanta post later this month!
