Making Peanut Butter Balls or Buckeyes

One of my favorite flavor combinations is peanut butter and chocolate. I have always loved peanut butter cups and anything else with peanut butter and chocolate. Making peanut butter balls is a fun treat. Some people call them buckeyes because they look like buckeye nuts.

You would think they would be difficult to make peanut butter balls but they are so easy to make! The hardest part is waiting for the chocolate to set up!

You need:
1 stick of butter ( I cut mine up into chunks and let it soften)
12 ounces Peanut butter
16 ounces Chocolate Chips
1 pound Powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine the butter, vanilla, and peanut butter  using a mixer.

Slowly add the powdered sugar and chill for at least an hour.

Roll dough into balls.

Melt chocolate chips on stove.

Using a toothpick dip the peanut butter balls halfway into the chocolate. If your peanut butter balls start to get soft again then chill them for about twenty or thirty minutes.

While you are dipping the peanut butter balls let them cool on a wax paper covered cookie sheet or counter. When you are finished dipping them chill them in the refrigerator to set up the chocolate.  Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

I made my chocolate into more of a ganache by adding a little bit of milk. If you do this make sure to stir so the milk doesn’t burn.

Mine didn’t turn out to be the prettiest things in the world but they are still good! Haha!
