Cookie Sandwiches

Happy Fourth of July!!! Have a SAFE and great day!

Do you need a last minute dessert idea? I made these incredibly easy cookie sandwiches last night. They took me less than ten minutes to put together!

Cookies, frosting, and a knife are all you need to make up this super easy treat!

CookieSandwichesTake one cookie spread the frosting on to flat bottom, place another cookie on top! Refrigerate for at least thirty minutes so the icing sets up a little.

So yeah, perfect last minute dessert if you are rushing out the door to that party!

The Southern Special 13

Hey y’all! It’s time for another week of The Southern Special! This past week has been really busy and I haven’t had time to even sit down and write my posts out for the week! I just printed my July blog schedule now! That’s how busy I have been this week!

Do you have any 4th of July plans this weekend? We are staying home and grilling up some hamburgers and hot dogs with some cookie sandwiches for dessert! (I’ll be posting about those on Thursday!)  We always go get some fireworks and set them off after dark!

If you set off your own fireworks please be careful! Don’t get too close and don’t re-light duds!

Here’s a fun printable I made a few years ago:

RCGG Life Updates

Have you ever had so much going on that you needed to take some time just for yourself? The RCGG world has been so busy this month that I haven’t had very much time to sit down and blog!

life updates

RCGG Life Updates:

I haven’t practiced guitar in about a week! I am still learning, but I have been focusing on studying the guitar tabs. I am having a little bit of trouble reading them so I’m numbering the fret boxes and string lines in the book I’m using.

I’m wondering what the big deal about the book Fault in Our Stars is. I don’t want to read a book that is going to make me cry like a blubbering idiot!

My mom is officially retired as of Friday. I can’t wrap my head around that as I don’t think she’s old enough to retire. It just baffles me to think about her not working!

I’m working on some new craft ideas! I can’t wait to share them with you, but you have to wait until they are done first!

Southern Special 11

Hey y’all!  This is going to be short and sweet today! Mr. RCGG and I got in late last night from our niece’s high school graduation. To say I’m exhausted is an understatement! After we got home I got laundry going and I didn’t put my teddy bear in the first load!!!

Purple Bear

Purple Bear

Yes, I’m almost 32 years old and I still sleep with a teddy bear. I also still sleep with my baby blanket!

In other RCGG world news, I got my hair cut this weekend! I went from long hair to something short! I have not had my hair short in a long time! I love it! I got so many compliments on it this weekend on Facebook! I have been given strict instructions by my niece to keep it short!

What do you think?

So are you ready to get this week’s party going? I know I usually put the clickable links to all our social medias, but this week I really don’t feel like going through and taking the 30 minutes it usually takes me to do. I’m just going to copy and paste it all in this week! Also, I will show off my features from last week in a separate post later today! Please forgive me for this week’s link up being so put together at the last minute! =) Next week I will be back to looking more organized!

Go Vox Box

Getting things for free is always fun isn’t it? I have had the opportunity to review several products from different companies through Influenster.

I received the Go Vox Box from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are mine and do not reflect the companies in any way!

home_tout_greekI don’t usually eat yogurt, but this has been the best yogurt I think I have ever had! With the coupon I received in my Go Vox Box I bought the Greek corner variety in the mango flavor. It is sectioned into two cups. The bigger cup had the yogurt and the smaller cup had the mango! I spooned the mango into the yogurt and mixed it around. It was so good. My husband has bought several other flavors for me as well! So as you can see, I will be eating more of this yogurt!

detailAlmonds are not my favorite nuts. So when I saw these in the Go Vox Box I didn’t think I would like them. I also didn’t think that flavored almonds would be very good. When I tried them I thought they were really good! They have a different flavor than regular almonds. More of a sugared almond with a slight blueberry taste. These also come in strawberry and raspberry.

I also received three flavors of Next Step shakes, chocolate, french vanilla, and fresh berries from The Vitamin Shoppe along with a Jaxx Shaker cup to use for blending them together. with water. I love the cup! I have used it for other things besides the shakes. As for the shakes, I did not like them at all! They were supposed to make you feel full longer. I was hungry twenty minutes after I drank them. The only one I cared even a little bit for was the french vanilla flavor. I actually added a little bit of pureed peaches to that though. The chocolate shake tasted like a cup of hot chocolate that got cold and I took one drink of the fresh berries shake and couldn’t even finish it. It tasted like chalk!  If Next Step can make these taste a little better I might consider buying them.

The Aqua Spa bath salts smell AMAZING! I sprinkled some in my bath water and it made my skin so soft. The lavender and chamomile scent was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep in the bath tub!

SMART_PEDI_ROCK_package

I also got this pedi-rock from Pro-Foot in the Go Vox Box. At first I wasn’t too sure that it would work. I quickly discovered that I love it! It makes my feet so soft and smooth! Faster than the ped egg and a pumice stone. I love the way it fits into my hand! It doesn’t have to come apart to empty. You just run it under water and it’s clean! That’s actually a lot easier than taking it apart and emptying a container.

Another product from Pro-Foot was shoe inserts. I could not find a picture. I did not like these inserts. They made my feet hurt. They are supposed to make your feet, back, and hips feel better when standing all day. I had these in my shoes for just over an hour and I took them out because my feet hurt so bad!

sport-homePlaytex Sport tampons were also in the Go Vox Box. I’m not that comfortable talking about this type of product on my blog because I think this is sort of a personal product. I will say that I found them to be hard to open and I didn’t like that they had a scent. You don’t know what chemicals were used to put that scent on them and you are putting that in a sensitive area of your body! I don’t think so!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. Thanks to Influenster for giving me the opportunity to review these products!

Guitar Lessons

Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself.  I have challenged myself to learn how to play the guitar and I started my first lesson today!

I have wanted to learn how to play the guitar since I saw Mandy from House of Rose Blog do her Guitar Project. In this project she learned to play the guitar and raised money to help five orphans for a year.  I thought if Mandy can learn to play guitar so can I!

I asked my brother in law to give me guitar lessons because he taught himself how to play and I knew he would be a great teacher!

guitar lessons

Yesterday, I found this really helpful site called Justin Guitar. He breaks down everything from chords, scales, and songs. It is really easy to learn from his videos and most of them are under ten minutes.

I learned the D chord and an E major chord today! I was only planning on learning one chord, but ended up with two since it was that easy! I can’t wait to continue my guitar lessons!

The Southern Special 9

Welcome to this week’s The Southern Special! This past weekend I had no idea what day it was. The days just seemed all messed up! I thought Saturday was Friday and Sunday was Saturday! It was crazy! So I finally have my days straightened out and I’m ready to bring on Tuesday! Wait, it is Tuesday right? =)

This week my features are in the recipe department!

I love this pie crust recipe from La Vita e Bella! I have never made a homemade pie crust and I’m excited to try this one soon! I’m still a pie newbie! I made my first one for 2013 Thanksgiving and it was the ugliest pie ever! Haha!

My second feature is this banana bread from Yesterfood. I love banana bread! I made some for my grandma a couple years ago for Christmas using her recipe. My parents said it was one of the best things I could have ever given her! That makes me feel really special! They also say that I am the only grand daughter that remembers her birthday!

June Goals

I know a lot of bloggers make goals for each month! I usually don’t post my monthly goals on the blog!

Here’s my June goals:

I ended up with this cold/sinus thing so my workouts for May derailed  I am working on getting back into a workout routine! This is what I’m hoping to start this month:

f0195bebb610833da62a26c153d59b0d

I also have a goal of posting more! I haven’t been posting as much as I should because life happens! It gets busy and is put on the back burner. I have so many projects running through my head and it gives me a headache sometimes! I have so many things to write about, but I just don’t make the time to write!

Do you make monthly goals for yourself? Do you stick to them or do they fall through the cracks?
