Happy Wedding Day!
Wedding Cake Sugar cookies
One of the little touches I am doing for the wedding was make wedding cake sugar cookies. I found a cake shaped cookie cutter at Hobby Lobby sometime last month and knew that I wanted make cookies as an extra little treat at the wedding.
I know, you are probably thinking that I am crazy for wanting to make cookies the week before the wedding. Well, baking calms me. It will help relieve any pre-wedding stress that may creep upon me this week. I will post pictures of them after the wedding.
I couldn’t find my baking book that has my grandma’s sugar cookie recipe in it so I used this one instead:
SUGAR COOKIES THAT HOLD THEIR SHAPE
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 whole eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar together until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt.
Chill for 1 hour or overnight.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Rol out dough on a lightly floured surface. (I usually add a little bit of powdered sugar onto the surface I am rolling the cookies on as well. You don’t have to do this.) Cut into shapes using cookie cutters. Place onto parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Bake for 6-8 minutes.
I am going to decorate the cookies with sanding sugar in our wedding colors, turquoise and pink.
2 weeks!!
It is two weeks until the wedding. Is it okay to say that I am getting a little nervous about things? What about saying that I am getting excited to become a wife?
It is okay? Then I am getting very nervous about things going completely crazy. I am not able to see the 10 day forecast yet for Jekyll Island, GA. I keep watching the weather and hoping that there aren’t any tropical storms that decide to pop up. The last three have dumped significant amounts of rain on Jekyll Island and caused minor wind damage. None of them were upgraded to hurricane status and that is good, but it still worries me a little. In four days I will be able to see the 10 day forecast.
Anyways, thanks to my Stop and Smell the Roses ladies for all the support you have given over the past month. I will let the Southern Illinois girls know when we are coming up again so we can get together. See you in August ladies!
5 Q Friday
I thought I would sneak in a little 5QF this week. I haven’t been around much over the past couple weeks. You know, wedding stuff going on. Anyways, here is this week’s 5QF

1. Is love at 1st sight possible?
2. How did you choose your pet’s name?
We have two cats. One is Ollie and the other is Peaches. Ollie was named by my mom. Her actual name is Olive Belle. Momma named her Olive because when I was growing up instead of saying I love you we would say Olive. I started calling her Ollie. Her middle name Belle is from Beauty and the Beast, my favorite Disney movie. Nathan named Peaches because she is a Georgia peach cat. (not a breed. She had a light orange coloring on her when she was a kitten that looked peach.)
3. What are you considering giving up (cable, home phone)?
We don’t use the home phone that much.
4. How much do you pay your babysitter?
We don’t have kids.
5. How “young” is old enough to babysit?
I was 10 when I started babysitting WITH HELP. The child was a family member and parents or another relative was always around in case I needed help. I started babysitting by myself when I was 14.
Firework Finale
Did you have a good July 4th? Last night we did our fireworks and had a lot of fun. We had this laptop looking one that we used as our finale. It was really cool. Want to see it?
Pinterest Weddings
It is getting closer and closer to the wedding. Yesterday was our 1 month mark. Are we ready? We still have a few things we need to finish before July 21st, but for the most part we are ready.
Here are some of the ideas I have been looking at:

Our centerpieces:

Next Month…
Next month I will be a Mrs. I am excited, but kind of scared at the same time. I have everything that I need to do done, so I really don’t have anything wedding related left to do at the moment. Is it just me or does it seem like the days are crawling by as we get closer to our wedding?
Here are some random pictures of Nathan and me since we really don’t have anything wedding related going on right now besides waiting for the day to come.
Stop and Smell the Roses Again…
It has been two weeks since I started my break. I have been missing my Stop and Smell the Roses ladies in those weeks so I thought I would make a surprise visit this week. Things are going great with wedding plans. We still have a few things to finalize, but other than that everything is done. We still have to to order food and our cake, but we are doing that this weekend. We also have to get our marriage license, but we can do that before we leave for our wedding weekend. In Georgia, there is no waiting period for a marriage license and it doesn’t expire. It is now 31 days until the wedding instead of the 32 I mention in my video because I filmed it yesterday.
Well, I guess I should get to my Stop and Smell the Roses video huh?

Wedding updates
We are counting down the days until our wedding. We are so excited to be sharing our special day with our families.
This is where we are getting married. Jekyll Island, GA. On the beach. We fell in love with this place when we first went down there in 2010. We went back in July 2011.
This is the colors I am doing. These are not my flowers though. I actually have no idea what my flowers look like because my mom is doing them for me. I am so glad that she offered to do them for me because this was the only thing that was stressing me out.
My mom also offered to do centerpieces. I really wasn’t thinking about them, but we thought that since she offered we might as well do something. I found this picture and thought that since we were having a beach wedding they would be perfect. I am taking my shells that I have found on previous trips to the island to put in the vases.
Wedding decorations
As you probably know by now, Nathan and I are getting married. I announced it in my May 30th Stop and Smell the Roses video.
Anyways, I thought I would share some of the DIY wedding decorations I have been stalking recently. Rebecca at My Girlish Whims was married in February of this year.
She made the majority of her decorations.
Here is some of the stuff she made.
She made these really cute tissue paper flowers. These would be so easy to do for any occasion actually.
Rebecca’s guest book was so cool. She got a big frame and cut out hearts. Her guests then wrote their names on the hearts.
