About 6:00 tonight, I got on facebook. I noticed that a lot of my friends from home had been posting status updates that said things like “my family is okay. lots of damage to town.” I called my parents and I could not get ahold of them. My dad finally called about 15 minutes later. There had been storms there all day and he said that it was probably a tornado. The weather service wasn’t confirming it yet. The wind gusts were up to 106 mph. There was a lot of damage around my hometown. Daddy said that he left work at 3:00 this afternoon and didn’t get into town until 5:00. The highway going into his work had a wreck and was shut down. So traffic was going down the other side of the highway. Kind of like a regular town road. The damage at their house was minimal which was good, but it has been very emotional. The only damage was the walnut tree in the backyard, which was my grandfather’s, had been uprooted and is now on the roof of their back porch. You can see why this damage is very emotional to us. The walnut tree is older than me. They are also without power as is the whole town. Please keep everyone in my hometown in your prayers as they deal with cleaning up the damage. Thanks so much.
