What’s for Dinner Wednesday?

I started making dinner in our house last Wednesday as a way to give N’s mother a break.  I made white chili last week.  It turned out great.  This week I am making a Paula Deen recipe that I have made a few times before.  It is called Bobby’s Goulash.  She calls it this because it is her son Bobby’s favorite meal.  Here is the recipe:

You will need:
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground turkey
2 large onions, chopped
Two 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
Two 15 ounce cans diced tomoatoes
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
3 bay leaves
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon garlic pepper salt
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
2 cups elbow macaroni

1. In a Dutch oven, saute’ the gorund beef and turkey over medium heat until no pink remains.  Break up the meat while saute’ing.  Spoon off any grease.  Add the onions to the pot and saute’ until they are tender, about five minutes.  Add 3 cups of water along with tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, garlic, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, garlic pepper salt, and seasoned salt.  Stir well.  Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot and simmer for about 30 minutes.  Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, and allow mixture to sit about 30 minutes before serving.

3.  Serve with garlic bread and a salad.

Serves 6.

*I think this is really a meal in itself and the garlic bread and salad isn’t really needed.  This is a very good meal.  I have used egg noodles as weel as elbow macaroni.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and if you try it, please share your thoughts with me.

Have a great week.
