The Southern Special 26

I have gotten so behind in my blogging this past week so I’m playing catch up to get everything in before the end of this week! Mr. RCGG and I are going on a long over due full weekend on Friday and I can’t wait!

Are you ready for this week’s party? Last week I forgot to add the link up code which made it RCGG not have your posts! Oops! I have made sure that I put it in this week! So because of that I don’t have features this week!

Monogrammed Fall Wreath

Fall is in the air and I am so excited! I love the crisp air and smell of apple and pumpkin mixing together! We aren’t big on scary Halloween decorations, so we go more towards the Fall decor. Scarecrows, pumpkins, orange, yellow.

I started making this wreath two years ago, but never finished it because it needed something. It started out looking like this:SAMSUNGI wrapped the orange and yellow ribbon around the wreath gluing it with E6000 glue as I went along. It needed something else though and I was going to put a bow on it. Bows and i do not get along for anything! I enjoy crafting, but I cannot make a bow to save my life!

After seeing my friend, Jen’s wreath with her last name initial I knew what mine needed. I found an S at Michael’s and Mr. RCGG spray painted it for me. 20140915_003016I have no idea why this picture is sideways. It is right side up on my computer. Oh Well!

20140915_003451Really? Sideways again? Anyways, I glued the scarecrow to the wreath and Mr. RCGG spray painted the S.

2014-09-27 13.29.11 (2)I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to put it on the door in a few weeks!

The Southern Special 25

I haven’t been around much this week! I’m not exactly too sure what happened there, but I I’ll just go with the old blogger stand by of life happened! Haha! I’ll be getting back to writing on a regular basis next week. I probably shouldn’t have taken that break over the first week of the month. It’s been a little hard to want to write again!

For the rest of the week, I’m going to be posting a little behind the blogger questions! I did this a long time ago for a month and it was a great get to know you! I thought I would share a little more about what’s behind the RCGG!

I;m not able to get my features and social media links up again for some reason. Since getting my new computer I have had a hard time keeping things linked. Oh well, I guess that happens sometimes! Here’s the party:

Box Mix Caramel Apple Cookies

I love anything caramel apple! My favorites being the caramel apple shake from Steak-n-Shake and caramel apple pops. When I saw this box mix for caramel apple cookies  at the store, I knew I had to make them! They have a great apple flavor and a hint of caramel.

Just follow the directions on the box to make these cookies!

Stir together the mix, eggs, and slightly melted butter.

I ended up using a mixer to get it all incorporated into a dough. Then used my hands to make sure it was well mixed into a dough.

Bake in a preheated oven until golden.

I have a from scratch recipe for caramel apple cookies that you check out here. I love this recipe because it is very easy to make.

Fabric Scrap Wreath

Are you college football fans? We bleed Georgia red and black in our house and today I’m sharing this adorable fabric scrap wreath I made for college football season. You can use any team colors, but like I said we are Bulldogs in this house so I went with red and black

Here’s what you need:
a wire wreath form
two or more colors of fabric
scissors
wooden plaque and letters (optional)

Take your fabric and cut it into strips. I didn’t measure mine but if you would like to measure them then decide what size you would like and cut them to size.

I didn’t get a picture of the next step but it is pretty self explanatory. Tie the strips onto your wire wreath form until it is full and fluff it out! This didn’t take as long as I thought it would! I watched baseball on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with Mr. RCGG while tying fabric strips!

Next I painted the outer edge of my wooden plaque red and then center black. The letters were painted white. I also took a pencil eraser and dipped it in red and black paint to make polka dots on the letters.

I attached the letters to the plaque with glue dots and separated a spot on the wreath form so that I could hot glue the plaque to it. I’m going to be honest with you! The hot glue didn’t stick very well, so I was going to use some E6000 glue. I didn’t have any. So I used duct tape to attach it. It sticks, but not very well. I still need to get the E6000 glue and reattach the plaque to the wreath.

The best thing about this wreath is that you can make it for any season or sport! Football, baseball, summer, spring, winter! Whatever you want it to be!

I hope you enjoyed how I made my fabric scrap wreath! I certainly enjoyed making it and I know it will be on our door all through University of Georgia football season and maybe longer!

Guitar Updates

I haven’t given a guitar lesson update in a while. I’m learning some new songs and new chords. I haven’t learned tabs or strum patterns yet! I hope to very soon! I have had a lot of fun learning and I know that I will get better! It just takes time!

Blogger Spotlight

Over the next few months, I going to be spotlighting some great bloggers. Every week throughout the month I will share a link from that month’s blogger on Facebook and Twitter. This month I’m spotlighting Kira from A Day in the Life of Mrs. T. I’ll let her take over now:

I’m Kira…a Soldier by day, mama and wife by night.  I’m married to my BFF and we have 3 boys (13, 2, and 1 one the way)  We also have 3 dogs who all think their lap dogs (the smallest is 70 the largest is 180).  I love to travel. I lived in Germany for a couple of years several years back and loved it.  We try to travel and see as much of the world as I can.

Over the years I’ve taken up Wogging (my version of running/walking) I’ve completed a little over 25 races (several 5ks, 1-10k, 12-half marathons and 4 full marathons).  I am not fast by any means but for some reason I just like to go out there and do them.  After Baby #2 arrives, I plan to actually put out a little bit of effort just to see what I am capable of…we’ll see how that works out, lol

 Why I decided to blog…

There are a million and one blogs out there and I don’t expect mine to be on a top 10 list by any means, heck I just took a month hiatus so I doubt that gets me onto any readers list. But that wasn’t my goal…the main reason I decided to take up blogging is something to fill the time while my husband was/is deployed.  Working all day and hanging out with a 2 yr old and 3 dogs at night…doesn’t spark a lot of conversations and social interaction.  I have been very luck to meet some awesome ladies over this past year through blogging.

So I’m not a fitness, fashion, lifestyle blogger…I’m a jack of all trades master of none J

A Day in the Life of Mrs. T

Thanks so much for letting me spotlight you this month Kira! I hope you enjoy your spotlight month!

Fall Blog Plans

The reason for my blog break was to plan out what I wanted to do for Random Crafty Georgia Girl during the fall! I have been planning so many things that now I’m excited about them and I hope you are too!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The colors, the cooler temperatures, caramel apples, pumpkins, and Thanksgiving. Plus it leads right into the best holiday of all, Christmas!

So in addition to The Southern Special I am  putting together a little extended fun up until Thanksgiving. Each week I’m going to show you some great fall recipes, crafts, and decor. I have always wanted to learn how to make pies. Last year, I made my first pumpkin pie. It wasn’t the prettiest thing, but it tasted good! That’s what matters right?! This year, I’m making the pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving again, but I wanted to make an apple pie before that! I mean what’s fall without going to the apple orchard. Fresh apples are great for making pies! I’m excited!!!!

So, over the next three months I will be making and posting recipes, crafts, decor, and family fun all with a fall theme! The recipes will be your typical fall comfort foods, like soups, stews, and chilli! Every year, I make chilli for what was my Poppy’s birthday. He had chilli and pumpkin pie as his birthday dinner every year! You didn’t even have to ask him what he wanted because you already know what he would say! Haha!

I’m looking forward to sharing the recipes and projects with you!
