I love having pictures around our house! They remind me that we have family and friends that love and support us! I have wanted a gallery wall to display pictures for a long time. Apartment life did not allow for hanging things on the wall without command hooks though!
We bought some picture frames at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago that were on AMAZING clearance deals. We ended up with 10 frames all priced under $7.
Gallery walls do no have to be just framed pictures though! I love ones that have simple decor mixed in with them.
We are working on our gallery wall going up our staircase. We are wanting to put some frames with pictures from both our families. We have old pictures of our grandparents and other family members that we want to display and creating a family gallery wall is a great way to show of these pictures from our past. I’ll keep you updated on how this project is coming along.
First, you want to decide where you want your gallery wall. Do you have a wall in your entry that needs something? What about your bedroom? As I said earlier we are putting ours going up our staircase.
Next, collect frames and wall decor that you want to use in your gallery wall. Since I’m doing a family theme for ours I’ll be using family oriented wall decor with our frames.
The next step to creating your gallery wall is the fun part! Deciding how you want to arrange your frames and decor. I think the easiest way to do this is to use painter’s tape. You can put the tap on the walls in the shape of your frames and get a rough idea of what it will look like before you put holes in your walls. Also you won’t damage your walls. Mark on the top strip of painter’s tape where the nail holes should go and you can take the side and bottom pieces off! Leave the top strip on and hammer your nails in. Remove it from the wall before hanging your frames.
You can do the same thing for your wall decor. I’m going to be putting a print or vinyl decal like this
